Team,
The Holiday Season is in full swing. I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving, and I pray that you have a blessed Christmas. During this time, we get bombarded with so much stuff…commercialism, sales, lists, events, tight schedules, and trying to fit so much in, that it’s easy to take our minds off of the peace and beauty of this season. The fact that God sent His Son to us, as an innocent child, to ultimately give us the gift to be redeemed by His perfect blood. Please take some time to relax and enjoy yourself. If it’s been a while, or never, I encourage you to read the passage of scripture from Luke 2:1-20 during this Christmas season, as it tells of the birth of Jesus. I think about Mary, who was a young, pregnant, scared teenager. I think about Joseph, who could have turned his back on Mary being pregnant before being married. But I also think about the Wise Men mentioned in Matthew chapter 2, who later brought the three gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Gold, a gift recognizing Jesus as the King of the Jews, but also practical to be used for financial support raising Jesus. Frankincense, an incense used in worship in the Temple where Jesus would spend time teaching. Myrrh, a perfume used to anoint dead bodies, symbolizing the coming death and burial of Jesus; the purpose for which He came. The good news for mankind is that He overcame death to give us life!
Please check on your tribe, your people, and your network during this season, as it can be a difficult time for many; some will be going through this season without a loved one for the first time. I also encourage you to volunteer somewhere such as a Wreaths Across America event, visiting a Veterans Home, or serving food to the needy. Whatever you do, I encourage you to be a blessing in the lives of those who God has placed into your life.
I pray that you all have a fantastic Christmas season, and that you get to continue to enjoy family, friends, fellowship, and more good food. Thank you for all you continue to do for BFN, and our Veteran community.
God bless,
